Why I love Outdoor sessions
There’s something magic about photographing outdoors. The way the sun glows low over the ocean, the space for kids to run free, the feeling of fresh air, barefoot grass, and no pressure to pose…the list is endless. I shoot outdoors because I believe your memories should feel like you. Relaxed, natural, and full of movement. Not confined to four walls or forced into perfect poses.
Natural light = real emotion
Golden hour - that dreamy window just before sunset - is nature’s soft filter. It wraps everything in warmth, softens skin tones, and adds that glow you can’t fake in a studio. More than that, natural light gives us space to slow down. We’re not watching the clock or waiting for a flash. You’re soaking in a moment, together.
The outdoors gives kids (and grownups) room to breathe
I’ve said this a hundred times, but it’s true: kids don’t need to sit still to get beautiful photos. They need freedom. Space to run, twirl, collect shells, jump into your arms. And when they’re outdoors, they’re more themselves - playful, curious, unfiltered. And that’s when the magic happens. Even the grownups relax. There’s no stiff lighting, no pressure. Just fresh air, your family, and me gently guiding things along while the light does its thing.
The setting becomes part of your story
Whether it’s the beach you walk every weekend, a field you’ve never explored before, or a sunset you never want to forget - the location becomes part of the memory. Photos aren’t just about faces. They’re about how a moment felt. These things matter - and they’re what we remember.
But what if the weather turns?
Here’s the truth: I work with light and weather, not against it. A cloudy sky can create the most soft, dreamy tones. A bit of wind? Gorgeous movement in your dress or your little one’s curls. And if we do get a wild day? We reschedule. Easy.
If that sounds like your kind of session, I’d love to help you plan one. Let's find a location that feels right for you. Follow the link to the contact me page & drop me a message.
