Are Mini Sessions Worth It? Here’s What to Expect

If you’ve ever seen the words “Mini Sessions Available” and thought, is that even enough time to get a decent photo? You are not alone. Mini sessions used to have a bit of a reputation: rushed, cookie-cutter setups with everyone forced into awkward poses in five minutes or less.

But I’m here to say: that’s not what mini sessions are anymore.

Today, mini sessions are one of the most meaningful, time-efficient, and relaxed ways to update your family photos - especially when life feels too full to commit to a full-length shoot.

Let’s break it down:

A mini is a short and sweet version of a full session. It’s usually around 15–20 minutes, held at a pre-selected location, with a limited number of bookings back-to-back. You still get my full attention, expert guidance, and the same emotive, storytelling style I bring to every session - just in a tighter window of time.

Why do people love them?? Because we’re all busy. Because sometimes you just want a few updated photos of the kids before they grow again. Or a moment with your partner that isn’t on a blurry phone camera. Or a beautiful family photo for your wall without organising an entire afternoon.

And for so many families, minis have become a tradition. One quick session a year to document a season - a new baby, a lost tooth, a growing belly, a laugh that’s changed since last year.
